Melinda Briana Epler is a strategic communications leader with over 20 years of experience leading global marketing and engagement strategies that improve energy efficiency, electrification, equity, and inclusion. She is an engaging storyteller who distills complex concepts into messages that inform and inspire people to take new actions.

As the Founder & CEO of Empovia, Melinda partners with leaders in tech, healthcare, government, and nonprofits on communications campaigns and behavior change initiatives that drive social and environmental change. Previously, she was head of marketing at a global engineering firm, where she led the company in repositioning the brand as a leader in energy efficiency. She also founded the company’s behavior change services in healthcare energy efficiency.


Melinda is also a startup advisor, a TED speaker, the author of the book How to Be an Ally (McGraw-Hill), and the lead author of the forthcoming paper Best Practices in Climate Communications: Moving People from Awareness to Action. She has spoken on hundreds of stages worldwide, and her work has been featured in publications including Harvard Business Review, Inc., Fast Company, Forbes, Fortune, NPR, USA Today, and TED Ideas.
